How to install GWSMO?

GWSMO

GWSMO stands for "Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook." It is a tool developed by Google that allows users to synchronize their Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite) email, calendar, and contacts with Microsoft Outlook. GWSMO is designed for organizations that use Microsoft Outlook as their primary email client but also want to take advantage of the collaboration and productivity features of Google Workspace.

With GWSMO, you can use Microsoft Outlook to manage your Google Workspace email, calendar, and contacts, and keep them in sync with your Google Workspace account. This means that you can access your Google Workspace data from both the web interface and Microsoft Outlook, and any changes you make in one will be reflected in the other.

Some of the features of GWSMO include support for multiple calendars and email accounts, the ability to schedule meetings with Google Meet, and the option to search for Google Drive files directly from Outlook. GWSMO also provides several off administrative controls, such as the ability to control which Outlook features are available to users and the option to apply policies to specific groups of users.

Before you begin

  • Sign in to your Google Account to accept Google's Terms and Conditions.
  • Check that Outlook is not running.

If you're downloading and installing GWSMO you should also:

  • Temporarily turn off anti-virus software, firewalls, and third-party applications that have access to your Outlook personal storage table (PST) files.
  • Review the system requirements for your computer and install any updates for your version of Outlook or Windows.

Steps to install GWSMO:

   5.   Enter your Password and click Next.

   6.   To provide access to your Google account, click Allow.

Note: you can create a Google Workspace profile to import your data (optional), or skip ahead to start using Outlook.

   7.   Import your data

Option 1: I'm ready to import data now

      1.   Check Import data from an existing profile.
      2.   Select where your Outlook data is stored:
                           a.   Outlook–Select an existing Outlook profile (the default)
                           b.   The name of your Exchange profile–Imports the data directly from the Exchange
                           c.    From a PST file (then browse the file on your computer)

               3.    If the options are grayed out, you need to install a separate tool to import data.

               5.   Click Show advanced settings.

               6.   Check Turn AutoArchive off to keep a copy of all your archived messages.

Option 2: I'm not ready to import data now

Skip ahead to Start using Outlook. You can return to this step later. When you're ready, go to Import your Outlook data later.

Option 3: I have already imported the data

Do not re-import the same data. You might end up with duplicate calendar events, contacts, or notes. Go to Start using Outlook.

8.    Start Outlook & choose your profile
  1. For Set Up Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook, click Start Microsoft Outlook.

You can do this even if your data is imported.

2.   Select your Google Workspace profile. To use this profile as your default option, click Options and check Set as the default profile.

3.   click OK.
4.   When Outlook opens your Google Workspace profile, GWSMO begins synchronizing data with your Google Workspace account.

You're now ready to use your new Google Account and all the Google Workspace tools from Outlook or the Google Workspace web interface.
